The Dodgers paced the circuit with 798 runs, spearheaded by 139 home runs. Los Angeles allowed 561 runs, least in the league. Jim Wynn walloped 32 home runs for the team, while Joe Ferguson, Steve Garvey and Ron Cey each swatted 20 or more as well. Steve Garvey drove in 111 runs. Bill Buckner led all qualifying hitters on the roster by connecting at a .314 clip. Andy Messersmith topped the squad with 20 wins, and Mike Marshall and Don Sutton as well added 15 or more victories as well Mike Marshall recorded a 2.42 ERA, leading regularly-used pitchers.

Walter Alston coached the team. The 1974 Los Angeles Dodgers won the League Championship Series.
