The Athletics scored 604 runs and conceded 457 runs. Mike Epstein led Oakland with 26 home runs, while Joe Rudi, Sal Bando, Dave Duncan and Reggie Jackson each walloped 20 or more, too. Sal Bando recorded 77 runs batted in. Joe Rudi topped all regular hitters by hitting .305. Catfish Hunter paced the squad with 21 wins, plus Ken Holtzman and Blue Moon Odom, too added 15 or more wins, too Catfish Hunter registered a 2.04 earned run average, tops among regularly-used pitchers.

Dick Williams coached the team. The 1972 Oakland Athletics won the World Series.
