Elvis Grbac passed for 1,943 yards, and Rich Gannon spent time under center, too. Andre Rison grabbed 72 passes for 1,092 yards, while Kimble Anders provided receiving help as well.

The opportunistic defense led the way with 34 turnovers. Mark McMillian intercepted 8 opponent throws. Dan Williams topped the defensive unit with 10.5 quarterback sacks, part of an overall team total of 54 sacks.

Marty Schottenheimer coached the team. The 1997 Kansas City Chiefs lost in the Division Playoff.
