The New York Islanders of the National Hockey League ended the 1980-81 season with a record of 48 wins and 18 losses and 14 ties for 110 points, finishing first in the NHL's Patrick Division. The team compiled a postseason mark of 15-3.
The Islanders paced the league with 355 goals. New York allowed 260 goals. Mike Bossy scored 68 goals for the squad, while Bob Bourne, Anders Kallur, Bryan Trottier and Clark Gillies each tallied 30 or more as well. Bryan Trottier accounted for 72 assists. Billy Smith topped the team with 22 wins, plus Glenn Resch added 15 or more wins, too. Glenn Resch recorded a 3.07 goals against average, pacing goaltenders with enough qualifying appearances.
Al Arbour coached the team. The 1980-81 New York Islanders won the Stanley Cup.
