Sid Abel compiled a record of 382 wins and 427 losses and 155 ties in his coaching career with the Chicago Black Hawks, Detroit Red Wings, St. Louis Blues and Kansas City Scouts. He began coaching during the 1952 season and last coached during the 1975 campaign. Abel was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1969.
